You moved into a home with a pre-existing security system
Sometimes when people purchase a home, a security system is already in use. All the alarms and cameras function well, are installed in the right places, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might see that you have to call and establish a new contract. A Vivint professional will still show up to ensure there are no compatibility problems, and they may offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a quick appointment, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you get some new devices.
The previous homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a small transfer cost to make the process simpler. If the previous owners are moving to an apartment or smaller home, turning over the Vivint contract might be an addendum of the sale.
You want to move and bring your home security equipment with you
You may need to bring along your favorite home security components with you to a new house when you move. It should be fairly simple to transfer, as most smart devices are plug and play. You can take down each alarm or camera yourself or call a Vivint installer to take care of your devices. Then a pro will put in the same features -- and any additions you want to put in -- in the new home. The home security contract will keep the same.
